Name: Marisol Levin

Title: Senior Marketing Coordinator

Firm: Bohler Engineering

SMPS Chapter: South Florida

Why did you join SMPS?

I joined SMPS because it offers a variety of opportunities to network with other individuals in the AEC industry, as well as a place to discuss, and learn about ideas, and trends.

What is the most important thing you’ve gained from joining SMPS?

As a big people-person, one of the greatest things I gained are industry connections. Through events, and seminars I have not only met some of South Florida’s key marketing and business development leaders, but I have been able to work with them.

How did you get into the A/E/C industry?

In 2010, my resume came across the desk of Shelby Morris, director of marketing at Moss & Associates. After an interview, and some phone calls, she took a shot and gave me the opportunity that would serve as the foundation to my career. I started as a marketing administrator, and slowly worked my way up, learning all trades in the marketing department.

Today, I am senior marketing coordinator at Bohler Engineering, where I oversee all marketing efforts for the Florida region.

What excites you about your work and the contribution you make?

Knowing that my effort, and work will have an impact on the growth of a company, and the growth of a community…that’s exciting!

What is one thing that might surprise people to know about you?

According to the Myers-Briggs personality types, I am an ENFP (Extraverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Perceiving), which makes up 3% of the population. As an ENFP, I am an outgoing, optimistic, enthusiastic individual. Famous ENFP’s include Walt Disney, Robin Williams, Ellen DeGeneres, Salvador Dali, and Jerry Seinfeld.

Interestingly, according to Gallup’s Strength-Finder test, my top five strengths are: positivity, winning others over (woo), includer, communication, and empathy.

If you could learn anything what would it be?

I am a believer that experiences offer the best lessons. There are so many things I would like to learn and experience, but if I had to pick one, I’d say to learn and experience a culture very different from mine. This experience would include learning about food, customs, language, and anything associated with the culture.

What is the last book (or newspaper, magazine) you read?

I just finished reading Gillian Flynn’s book, Sharp Objects. This is not my usual read, but I promised myself to read more this year, and I had the book on the shelf, so I took a shot at it. I am now reading Rising Strong by Dr. Brene Brown.

What is your favorite book or movie and why?

Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist is hands down my most favorite book. I believe we are all Santiago in search for the treasure. Without giving too much away, after reading this book I was able to understand that what we seek is actually close by.

When you were little, who was your favorite superhero and why?

My parents have always been my superheroes. They both came to the United States with nothing but the clothes on their back. They didn’t know the language, or the customs, and against all odds, through hard work and dedication, built a successful business. Even in the busiest of years, my parents always managed to make time for me and my brother. Their sacrifices served as a solid foundation filled with opportunities that shaped who I am today.

How do you enjoy your free time?

I enjoy keeping busy with my two daughters, my two fur babies, and my husband.
