SMPS South Florida 2008 Nominations
Once again, it's election time for the SMPS South Florida Chapter Board of Directors.  The positions that are available, along with a brief description of each are listed below.   The commitment for these positions is a one year term.  Please note that we are actively seeking volunteers for our Programs Committee and a Chair for the Sponsorship position.  If you would like to run for one of these positions, please email me at clopez@heery.com by June 27, 2008.  At that point, we will close nominations

The Board of Directors consists of the following positions:
 
1.  Immediate Past President Officer
2   President Officer
3   President-Elect Officer
4   Treasurer Officer
5.  Membership Director Officer
6.  Programs Director Officer
7.  Education Director Officer
 
President-Elect: Assists the President and performs duties as assigned by the President and the Board. Takes over the role of President after the first year in office. In the absence of the President, the President-Elect shall preside at all meetings of the Chapter or Board of Directors. Shall also perform such other duties as from time to time may be assigned by the President or the Board of Directors.
 
Treasurer:  Shall be responsible for all funds of the Chapter.  The treasurer shall receive the Chapter's income and maintain its bank accounts, and all credit card transactions along with Chapter's bills after they have been approved by the Executive committee, file appropriate IRS returns, maintain a complete report of transactions which shall be open to inspection by the Finance and Audit committee, make monthly reports to the Board of Directors as to the status of the Chapter's finances, prepare an annual budget for the Chapter and in general perform all of the duties incidental to the office of Treasurer.
 
Membership Director:  Shall be responsible for the overall membership of the Chapter.  Shall coordinate efforts to develop a membership committee, and shall coordinate membership retention and membership expansion duties.
 
Programs Director:  Shall be responsible for spearheading/delegating the task of determining program topics in initial planning committee meeting, finding appropriate speakers and maintaining contact with them and making hotel arrangements.  Also involves providing invitation information to Graphics person and to newspapers contacts, ensuring day of event details are handled, and following up with thank-you letter/gift to the speakers.   
 
Education Director:  Shall be responsible for fulfilling education requirements from SMPS national programs, works closely with Programs Director, researches opportunities to provide AIA credits at presentations, prepares membership for Certified Professional Services Marketer accreditation, and is responsible for the Education Series program and committee.
 
Special Programs/Events:   Coordinate and plan annual Bowl-A-Thon charity event.

Jenifer Johnson
, Principal of BNI Engineers is an industry leader with nearly 20 years of marketing and business development experience in the A/E/C industry.  Her career in this industry began as a marketing coordinator and today she oversees all marketing and business development efforts for an international award winning engineering firm.  In her role as a principal of the firm, she oversees and directs corporate strategy and market sector specific efforts for all of the firms’ national offices.  She has previously served as President and Board Member of the SMPS South Florida Chapter and has chaired the Emerging Leaders SMPS national committee. Today, Jenifer serves on the SMPS South Florida Board as an Advisor and on the Board of Directors for Women in Distress.

Lilian Chiu is the Founder and Creative Director of Morgan Environments, a professional consulting firm created to fill the void of marketing and business development support needed in the A/E/C industry. Lilian has over 20 years of experience specific to the A/E/C industry.  She oversees all creative and strategic projects for the firm including competitive analysis and market sector specific campaigns; proposals and RFP design; shortlist presentation development; and strategic market sector research and analysis.  Lilian has served as the National Director of Marketing for a 350 person international A/E design firm where she focused on Corporate Commercial, Higher Ed, K-12 and Hospitality markets. She has also served as Director of Marketing for Perkins+Will, and as Business Manager and Principal of her own 40 person architectural and interior design firm.   Today she serves on the Board of Directors of the US Green Building Council and the Miami Chapter of the AIA as well as Chair of the Beacon Council subcommittee on Sustainability; she routinely speaks on the topics of marketing, business development and strategy.
