Lunch and Learn: Implementing Lean Design and Construction - Understanding and Action

Beginning with pre-construction and continuing nonstop throughout all phases of a project, Lean principles drive the efficient delivery of our services in the A/E/C industry. Turner Construction Company will teach the basic principles and applications of this transformational business strategy focused on maximizing customer value while eliminating waste of time and materials. This Lean
approach and culture has a profound impact on efficiency, productivity and profitability.

William Hussey is a Lean Manager at Turner Construction Company. He has been with the company since 2010. His experience over the past 9 years in construction management includes site development & excavating, concrete core and flat work construction, steel erection, MEP coordination, interior construction, curtain wall construction, finishes and construction technology. Applying lean principles consists of focus on the details in small areas of operations, working with small teams of typically 10-15 people and emphasizing the need for measurement of performance.

William Hussey is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a BS in Industrial & Management Engineering. His specialties and areas of expertise include Lean construction, Last Planner System, estimating, change management, budget control, project closeout, supply chain management, A3 problem solving, value stream mapping and business development.
