Each year, SMPS national and chapters offer continuous learning seminars and networking events on topic including market research, marketing planning, client and business development, proposals, promotional activity, and information, resource, and organizational management.

Build Business: The SMPS / PSMA National Conference

This annual event is the premier educational forum for marketers and business developers in the building industry. SMPS brings together owners, developers, and marketers for 2.5 highly charged days of networking and learning.

Certification

SMPS is proud to offer the Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) program. To hear the CPSM designation, candidates must meet educational and experience requirements, pass a rigorous written examination, and pledge to abide by the CPSM Code of Ethics. Successful candidates are recognized as having the knowledge and skills to generate profitable business in the A/E/C marketplace.

Domains of Practice for Professional Services Marketers

SMPS has conducted a practice analysis of professional services marketing to articulate and confirm the profession's body of knowledge and the skills critical to professional competence. These knowledge and skill sets are classified under six domains: market research; marketing planning; client and business development; proposals; promotional activity; and information, resource and organizational management.

Awards Programs

Marketing Communications Awards, the annual SMPS Marketing Communications Awards recognize outstanding marketing vehicles created by architectural, engineering, design, and construction firms. Awards are presented in 18 categories; in addition, a small-firm award winner is named in each category.

Resources

The SMPS Bookstore offers 300+ titles and resources covering all aspects of marketing, business development, and management in the A/E/C industry. Several of the publications have been written by SMPS members and published by the organization to expand the body of knowledge of professional services marketing and better serve our members. In addition, with your membership you will have access to The Marketer, SMPS's bimonthly journal, SMPS News, a monthly electronic newsletter, Membership Directory and Resource Guide as well as other tools available with your membership from the national website.
